MEET JASON MULLER, BECZAK'S OUTREACH COORDINATOR

Hello,
I'm Jason, Outreach Coordinator at Beczak Environmental Education Center.
We're the lower Hudson's hub for river education and offer many
programs that involve all ages in learning about nature and enjoying the
outdoors.
I'd love to welcome you to Beczak's team. Please check out the photos and volunteer job descriptions below--and if it looks like something you'd enjoy, just contact me. We also have volunteer parties and you get a free tshirt!

6 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
- We have volunteer opportunities for ages 13 and up.
- Some of our best volunteers are retired persons or people between jobs.
- High school students can earn community service hours and complete senior year internship requirements.
- College internships are also possible.
- Volunteering at Beczak is fun, rewarding and satisfying.
- One-time volunteering opportunities for school, scout and corporate groups are available.
MOST WANTED!
Evening Program Assistant (Ages 21 and Up – Mainly Saturday Evenings)
Assist with set-up and clean-up for Urban H2O concerts and RiverTalks
lecture series. Greet visitors and collect fees. Serve food and
refreshments. Free admission to all events including refreshments for
volunteers.

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS OPEN
Aquaria Assistant (Ages 13 and Up)
Clean
algae from the inside glass of the tanks. Clean the exterior of
the aquaria and cabinets. Capture small animals in the tidal marsh
to feed the aquarium animals. Feed the exhibit animals. Contact Jason at jmuller@beczak.org

Marsh Maintenance/Gardening (Seasonal - Ages 16 and Up)
Collect
and bag trash washed up on the beach and in the marsh. Inspect and
maintain the fences that wind through the marsh. Pick up and deposit
trash brought in through stormdrains or carried in by the tide. Plant
native species and weed non-native and invasive species. Water flowers

Website Management (Ages 18 and Up)
Regularly
update the website with relevant stories, event calendars, and pdf
versions of our publications. Work with staff to design new pages as

Grant Writing Assistant (Ages 21 and Up)
Work
with Executive Director to research new sources of funding. Assist with
the collection of data for possible grants. Aid the Executive Director
in the grant writing process.

Education Assistant (Ages 14 and Up)
Interact
with students and answer basic questions. Assist educators with
seining, craft programs, and special events. Help clean and prepare
materials for upcoming programs. Assist with tasks around the center.Contact Jason at jmuller@beczak.org

Network/Computer Support (Ages 18 and Up)
Be
on call for problems that arise in the office. Troubleshoot network and
server issues. Make repairs to hardware when necessary.Contact Jason at jmuller@beczak.org

Weekend Daytime Docents (Ages 18 and Up)
Greet
visitors and collect fees. Direct late participants and cover building
while class is outside. Answer any questions visitors may have.Contact Jason at jmuller@beczak.org

Festival Docents (Ages 21 and Up – Weekends)
Attend
various off-site festivals such as Yonkers Riverfest, The Clearwater
Festival, and Eaglefest. Set-up and break down Beczak’s information
table at the festival. Interact with visitors to Beczak’s table. Spread
